Further on the road to LYG

I realized today that I need to know more than just Ruby on Rails to create my Local Yokel Guide (LYG). I want it to be a multimedia site.

Yelp.com is a good site, but it's just text and pictures. No audio, no video shorts. Its only focus is geographical, like a local Google. That's great for getting a large set of contributors, but I can't rely on getting anyone to swing by the site to offer his opinion of something that tickles him.

I look for something that is a bit more engaging, a bit more modern, a bit more hip. To accomplish that, I need to also practice my broadcasting skills, and to accomplish that, I need to get out into the field and talk to some people, make some contacts online, and record, record, record.

So, it's off I go to http://freevlog.org/ to learn how to turn this plain blog into a vlog.

So, if I'm me, I can send you a video to display on LYG, but what if I'm Joe Blo from Vacaville and I want to let people see what the Gay and Lesbian Parade is really like and I have home movies - presumably with no nudity ;) - how does your average yokel post his video to LYG?
